A well-written and enjoyable read, but I'd say it's a huge stretch to suggest that Netflix has "democratized" cinema. People are shelling out, over the long term, hundreds of dollars for a movie/tv show library that could disappear overnight. The content is still entirely controlled by a corporation... hell they even removed the ability to rate their shows. I mean, they put out some great stuff at times, but none of this is a "democratic" process. Just increasing access doesn't equal democratization. Democratized access to movies isn't Netflix, it's a VPN and a Bittorrent client.
